Start Living Now

by Alan Rider

The phone call came as I was motoring down the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu this afternoon.  My friend Todd called to deliver the sad news that a former colleague of ours—one of the nicest guys I’ve ever worked with—died of a massive heart attack last night.

Frankly, I’m still a little dumbstruck.  John was just 56 years old and as healthy and energetic as anyone I know.  Including me.

As Todd and I talked, we both recalled how John was just hanging on in a job that had become increasingly stressful in recent years and counting the days until his retirement.  I’m not entirely sure what he planned to do when he retired but, knowing John’s adventurous spirit, it surely would have been fun.

Which made me think of what is, above all else, the true purpose of this website: To encourage you to begin living your life to the fullest right now.  Because, for some of us, tomorrow may never come.

God speed John as you head off to your next extraordinary experience.  We will miss you.
